Sofia Mechetner is an Israeli model.

She was born 04.12.2000 in Holon, a small working class town at the south of Tel-Aviv, where she still lives today together with her mother and her younger brother and sister.

In one of her very first productions, still in Tel-Aviv, Sofia Mechetner was introduced to the former micky mamoninternational model and Israeli stylist Micky Mamon, known for her runway jobs by Jean Paul Gaultier, John Galliano and Eve Saint Lauren. Mamon was very impressed of Sofia’s look and told Cyril Brule about her. Brule is the founder of the VIVA model management in Paris, the agency behind Ayman Hamam, Derry Hemingway, Dozen Cross, Natalia Odianobh, Liya Kebede, Stella Tennant, Edie Campbell as well as the actresses Charlotte Rampling, Isabelle Huppert and Juliette Binoche.

VIVA invited Sofia to Paris for some photo shootings, but as they realized how young she is they decided to cancel the sassion. A series of coincidences in Paris, however, led her to be taken by Dior’s cheaf designer Raf Simons to be Dior’s in-house model.

In April 2015, at the age of 14, Sofia was chosen to be the face of the Parisien traditional fashion house Dior. Just a few months earlier she failed the pre auditions for the Israeli fashion label CASTRO.

In her first contract for Dior, which was actually her first ever stage modeling job, she was paid over $265,000, which she immediatly shared with her family. She plans to use her entire modelling income to help her mother, who she considers to be her personal hero.

”My mom works realy hard for our family. She always supports and takes care of me, my younger sister and my little brother. Together we all try to help each other and help her, so that it will be easier for her. I love you mom. Thank you for everything.”

Sofia Mechetner opened the Christian Dior haute couture fall winter 2015/2016 Show, walking on the runway of the fashion week, on July 6th 2015 in Paris, France. At the same week her story was covered by a documentary on Israel’s Channel 2 weekend magazine, which described her being discovered as a Cinderella story.

According to her contract by Dior, she is expected to travel to Paris at least four times a year for modeling, but she will, however, continue going to school in Israel.

”It is very important for me to keep going to school. I’m defenetly not going to throw out school for any reason.”

While working as a teeny model she will be accompanied by the chaperone Rotem Gur from the Israeli office of her agent Roberto Ben-Shoshan, at all times until she is 18-year old.

Sofia Mechetner is represented by VIVA Model Management in Paris and by Roberto Model Management in Tel-Aviv.
